“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.”

— ALDOUS HUXLEY

As the past month, filled with uncertainty and angst, has unfolded, I find myself contemplating the concept of perspective. It is so easy to react to what is known. We far too often presume to know what is unknown. Yet how would those reactions differ, or those presumptions change, or maybe even disappear, if we stopped to look through the doors of perception?  I have a door that I hope no one else ever has to look through – that of a bereaved mom. As I go through each day, surrounded by the anxieties of these unimaginable times, I remind myself to stop and look through my door, and my view changes. While it may seem counterintuitive, from this perspective my frustrations with the known, and my fears of the unknown, diminish, and my gratitude for what I had and what I still have grows.  May we all find grace and peace, one day at a time, from our own unique perspectives.

Oh, Lisa, another powerful entry. Perception is such an important part of relationships and understanding of the world/universe. Thank you so much for reminding me of what I need to practice every day, gratitude and remaining open to the possibility that my perception may be different than those around me, and that’s OK. Love and hugs.
