“Anything you lose comes round in another form.”
— RUMI
Trolling for knitting patterns one day I come across “Sophie’s Dream” blanket, a profusion of color crocheted into intricate blocks of joy. Is it a coincidence that my sister finds the same pattern? There is no question as to next steps. Yarn for 2 blankets is ordered, but there is no instant gratification for it is on back order. We wait, and then today, on your birthday, the yarn arrives. As I struggle to accept the fact that I cannot give you gifts, one arrives for me that I somehow know is from you. It will take many months to turn the whirls of color into cloth that I can wrap myself in. I will sit in my chair and with each stitch I will think of you, and I will be filled with gratitude that 28 years ago I was given the greatest gift of all. You continue to bring color and joy into my life and I am forever blessed.
I love that she’s sending you gifts, just like you are giving others through your words and your time. The circle of love! Big hugs.
