“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future.”
— PROVERBS 31:25
I barreled headfirst into February, with a deep breath and blind determination. The month arrived, undeterred by my pending fear, with just two days until my 60th birthday. Yet how to celebrate without my cherished daughter telling me all of the things I’d want to hear as I hit that divisible by 10 number? And then, someone who is there for you every minute with few words but endless love, gives you a gift that can’t be valued in dollars. A beautiful image, drawn by my sister’s hand. A single sentence that says she sees my journey. Letting me know in her own way that she will always be there for me and always keep my daughter’s spirit alive. And she reminds me to smile at the future, for it is indeed sometimes easy to forget. It has been 32 months. I don’t walk this journey alone. I am grateful.
