“Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.” But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.”
—KAHLIL GIBRAN
September. It is the month that brings me to the precipice where joy and sorrow collide. For this month amazing people will honor my amazing daughter. They will hold an event in her memory. They will generously donate in her honor. They will celebrate her spirit. And I find that I need every ounce of my energy to breathe. My joy and sorrow are indeed inseparable. And my gratitude is boundless.
